Multiplex PCR based 454 sequencing

We applied multiplex PCR as a front end to a Next Generation Sequencing method. To generate fragment libraries that are large enough to feed the Genome Sequencer FLX (Roche Diagnostics), many options exist. PCR amplification is one of them, but making use of standard, simplex PCR, becomes a burdensome and organizationally difficult process. Multiplex PCR can reduce this workload with a factor 10 – 15, paving the way to high throughput sequencing of 50 – 500 amplicons in a high number of individuals.
Multiplicon's multiplex PCR based assays are very useful for amplicon sequencing via Next Generation Sequencing equipments. We call this product line : "Multiplex Amplification of Specific Targets for Resequencing" or "MASTR" assays.
